A sort-of article of mine is live on 5Nine.com

A long while ago (2010) I wrote a series of posts for 4Sysops.com on Hyper-V performance monitoring. By chance I found that some of that material had ended up on a blog over at 5nine.com. I contacted them and they did the right thing – restoring my faith in humanity. Apparently a guest blogger (that they no longer work with) had done it and they didn’t know.

Anyway, they’ve attached my name and bio to the post, which you can read here. Original 4Sysops series starts here.

Thanks for reading.

Creating VMs in Azure for virtualizationreview.com

In my monthly column for virtualizationreview.com I look at creating a VM in Azure. First the next-next-next wizard to get a basic VM up and running, then we break that down and approach it in a better way, creating a resource group to house networking, diagnostics storage, backup storage and a network security group (NSG) for security before we create one or more VMs. Read it here.

This article is also laying the foundation for the next few columns where I’m going to explore Azure more in-depth with step by step articles and the why behind the how-to.

Enjoy! And thanks for reading.

Azure Advanced Threat Protection for 4Sysops

My post on Azure Advanced Threat Protection is now live on 4sysops. AATP is the same tool as Advanced Threat Analytics (ATA) that Microsoft has had in market for a few years, except it’s a cloud service and there’s no on-premises infrastructure except for agents that collect events and network data from your Domain Controllers. There’s no better way to protect yourself from Pass The Hash and all the related attacks than AATP/ ATP. Read it here.

Enjoy! And thanks for reading.
